It's officially May but I am not ready to move on to my May #ReadingList yet. Sigh.
It was a tough month and I had many days where I fell asleep as soon as I got home instead of doing the reading I'd assigned myself. Hopefully the next month is easier.
For this week, though, finishing up my April reads.
There is No God And He is Always With You (Brad Warner)
Proverbs of Ashes (Rebecca Ann Parker & Rita Nakashima Brock)
The Midas Flesh (Ryan North)
Also the #shortfiction #storyclub pick.
@zephasaurus_hex You -choose- books to read for the month? And then... read them? You don't don't spend an hour going through 600 goodreads books and seeing what sounds good that your library happens to have in stock and like make it last a week? What sorcery is this? This doesn't have a witchy theme, but I think I'm on a witchy instance.
@lapis It's the only way I've been able to get back into reading. I love it, but I used to read for hours and hours, finishing books in a day. Then I went to grad school. And learned to skim. Lots and lots of books at once, never actually reading any. So for a few years after finishing my degree I couldn't just sit and read.
So I assign myself ~4 books a month and alternate them. I read about 100 pages a day. Sad compared to where I used to be, but it's a start.
@zephasaurus_hex I think assuming I don't like, pass out when I get home, I gotta try this before I finish my latest book. I mean, I've had this problem where I don't really "read" anymore. Even if it's a book I in theory enjoy my eyes just pass over the words, not really absorbing them. Time or place doesn't matter. Reading aloud seems to help a bit though.
@zephasaurus_hex Same here. I need more energy to read. It takes a lot of attention sometimes.
