As we swoon into June, I'm putting out a call for suggestions on stories for the group to read. If you have one, comment here with it. I'll keep this pinned to my profile.

Tariq, the main character in this week's #storyclub pick, faced a difficult choice in terms of activism/civil disobedience versus the impact on his family.

The topic has come up a few times this week with uspol, so I'm interested to hear what others would do in Tariq's situation. Would you have gone back to the civil unrest or kept out of it for the sake of family or someone you care for?

I was a huge fan of LOST. Made Dharma motor pool uniforms for my boyfriend at the time. Had elaborate season premiere parties (with homemade dharma fish biscuits + Mr Cluck's fried chicken buckets). Watched each season multiple times to create increasingly complicated theories on what was happening...

It was my first fandom, and as much as I geek out about a lot of pop-culture stuff now, my nerding out has never been that extreme with anything else, heh.

Probably to the surprise of no-one who follows my other account, my favorite robot/AI is Murderbot from Martha Wells' All Systems Red.

The industry that I am in changed a lot with the availability of computers and internet, so I've thought about this question a lot.

I think that ultimately the only job that a robot wont be able to do... is the job deciding what we should do. Does that make sense?

We (and robots) can do a lot. And we can use robots to do a lot more. But we need someone to inspire / motivate us to do the next thing.

So, basically, upper management, heh.

Last week one of my coworkers was telling me about Bill Gates' proposal that robots be taxed if they replace a job done by a human.

Which (of course) got me started rambling about taxation without representation and should we extend robots citizenship eventually?

... When my coworkers instead wanted to talk about whether there is any job we think robots can't do. 😂

So, #storyclub what say you? Is there a job safe from eventual robotic replacement?
